Boston Lala @ Restoran Boston Baru Klang

There is a Boston in United States that is famous for its Tea Party[1] . In Malaysia, we also have a ‘Boston’. However, our ‘Boston’ is famous for its clams, also AKA ‘Boston Lala’.

位于美国的波士顿有一个闻名的Tea Party[1] ,在马来西亚,我们也有一个波士顿,但是我们的“波士顿”出名的是拉拉,也叫做“波士顿拉拉”。


To dine in this restaurant, you would have to wait and queue. Even after placing your orders, you would still have to wait for your food to be serve. Just wait wait and wait. If you are waiting for less than 1 hour, then you are consider lucky because the average waiting time in this restaurant is approximately more than 1.5 hour.

想在这里用餐,首先你需要排队等待,你点叫食物之后也要等待,就是一直等等等。如果你等待的时间少过一小时,那恭喜你,你是幸运的一位。因为这里平均等待的时间是超过一小时半。


Everyday, the restaurant opens around 5.30 PM. There will be customers start queuing at 5pm to be the first batch of diners. We reached the restaurant half past six and hence we got to get our number from the counter to wait for our turn.

这里每天大概5.30pm开始营业,可是有些顾客在5pm已经开始在这里等待,就是为了做第一批的顾客。我们大概6.30pm来到之后就去柜台拿号码等

We were in the waiting list where the number was not moving from number 1

The ‘recommended dishes’ here would be their Clams, Steam Red Snappers, Nestum Mantis Prawn, Spicy Stir-fry Squid (Kung Pao Sotong) and Fried Noodle. After waited for 2 hours plus, finally we got to dig in.

这里的推荐菜肴是,上汤拉拉,清蒸红斑,奶油虾蛄,宫保苏东和炒面。大概等了两小时,我们终于开动了。

(Large) Superior Clam Soup 上汤拉拉 RM24

The Superior Clam Soup that prepared by the fermented rice wine came with generous amounts of gingers and chilies. The clams were fresh and the stock was spicy (to those who have low tolerance to spiciness). There were also some closed clams that had sand in it too. Probably due to the overloaded orders that made the quality of the food went down.

上汤拉拉的汤汁是用绍兴酒搭配新鲜的拉拉,加上大量的辣椒和姜丝去腥,烹调而成。对于不能接受辣的朋友,可能会略显太辣。

Hokkien Fried Noodle 福建炒面 (RM10)


The Hokkien Fried Noodle was just a normal dish. Without the wok thermal radiation, the dish could not taste any better. We did not order the Nestum Mantis Prawn due to the overrated comments by our friends.

福建炒面并没有太大的特色, 锅气略显不足。我们并没有点叫奶油虾蛄因为我们的朋友说这道菜肴有点名过其实。

Spicy Stir-fry Squid 宫保苏东 (RM50)


As for the Spicy Stir-fry Squid (Kung Pao Sotong), the squid was fresh and not too spicy. The chewy squid dish was served together with lady fingers.

宫保苏东就有点特别,店家加入羊角豆一起烹煮,我们猜测是因为他们想用羊角豆的粘性让苏东更加顺口滑溜。新鲜的苏东加上羊角豆和入味的酱汁,是一个不错的选择。

To me, this restaurant is overrated. I would not label the food here as the ‘best’. Would I come back again? Definitely no for dinner as the waiting time is too lengthy. If it is for supper, I would give a thought about it.

对于我,这间餐馆有点名过其实,我不会说这里的食物是“很好”吃。我会再回来?那一定不是在晚餐时间因为等待时间太长。如果是宵夜,那可能会再一次尝试。

Tips from 食 La Vie, there are limited parking spaces at this area and try to avoid sitting at the dark areas at there were many mosquitoes hovering there.

食 La Vie贴士,这里的停车位有限,也记得用餐时避免选择阴暗的位置因为这里的蚊子不少。

[1]  Back in December 1773, Boston was well-known for its Tea Party where there was a protest that dumped a few hundreds of tea chests into the sea . Even in our Sejarah secondary school we did come across this but I bet most of you have forgotten.

[1] 在12月1773年,波士顿有个非常闻名的Tea Party。这个由来来自于一次示威活动,示威者将大量的茶箱丢进海里。即使在我们中学的历史课上,教科书上也曾经提起,但是我觉得你们大多数都已经忘的一干二净。
