Cheese Bak Kut Teh @ B.A.J Restaurant Setapak

Recently my ‘squad’ had come across a Facebook post which write about the special Cheese Bak Kut Teh in Setapak (Restaurant B.A.J). The post was picturing the thick cheese strands forming when you scoop one of the meat from the pot. Amazed by the amount of cheese, we decided to pay a visit to this restaurant to try out the viral Cheese Bak Kut Teh.

最近我的“猪队友”在Facebook的帖子里发现了一个最近在Setapak(Restaurant B.A.J)非常火热的“芝士”肉骨茶,当你从锅里舀出一块肉时,会拉出绵长的芝士丝。 所以,我们决定去参观这个特别的芝士肉骨茶,尝试一下这个让人又爱又恨的“芝士”,肉骨茶。

Located at the first floor of Prima Setapak’s wet market, you can find the row of stalls that sell Bak Kut Teh. Of course, the wet market is closed in the night but you can access to the restaurant through the staircases.

你可以在Prima Setapak巴刹楼上找到这个卖肉骨茶的摊位。 当然,巴刹在夜间早已关闭,但你还是可以通过楼梯上去。

We ordered the Seafood Curry Pot, Normal and Cheese Bak Kut Teh each to try them out.

我们分别点叫了咖喱海鲜锅,普通和“芝士”的肉骨茶尝试

Seafood Curry Pot RM15

Seafood Curry Pot comes with bean curd, prawn, taufu, fish cubes (fishy smell), lots of cabbage and one mussel. Yeap, just one. The taste was just like a decent curry pot, but personally, I still prefer the Curry Pot in Sri Rampai except that the curry pot here has a special ‘token’ which is the mussel.

咖喱海鲜锅就像平常的一样有豆腐卜,虾,蔬菜,鱼和一个青蚝。你没看错,就只有一个。味道平常,小编还是偏爱Setapak Sri Rampai的咖喱海鲜锅,这里的只有一个特别之处,那就是有青蚝。

Bak Kut Teh RM10

To me, the Bak Kut Teh here was rather tasteless. The herbs that they used here is not as strong as the one I have tasted outside. However, this Bak Kut Teh came with a generous amount of meat for the price that we were paying. If you ask me which Bak Kut Teh is nice, I would prefer Klang Jin Fook Bak Kut Teh at Kajang. I am no Bak Kut Teh expert and I have not tried the whole Malaysia’s Bak Kut Teh but Klang Jin Fook Bak Kut Teh is so far the best I would say.

小编觉得这里的肉骨茶味道显得有点谈而且药材的味道也没有外面的来得重。但是,对于肉的分量却毫不手软,物超所值。如果你问我,那里的肉骨茶最好吃,小编会建议位于Kajang的巴生金福肉骨茶,小编虽然不是肉骨茶达人也并没有尝遍马来西亚的肉骨茶,但是这个失暂时我尝过最好的。

Lastly, their specialty; the Cheese Bak Kut Teh. It is a pot of caramelized tender pork with cheese topping and nothing like Bak Kut Teh to me to be frank. The amount of cheese they put as the topping was rather too little and it made no different to the taste of the meat. I would say that it is overrated.

最后,他们的主打,“芝士”肉骨茶。有点像“宫保”猪肉上头撒上“芝士”,对于小编来说是完全没有肉骨茶的感觉。芝士的分量给得有点少,吃不出任何特别之处。小编会说,这个“芝士”肉骨茶真的有点名过其实了,网络果然不能尽信。

All of these dishes inclusive of a small side dish of vegetable. I do not think it would be the amount of fiber you need in a meal as the portion is quite small. (Just RM10+ what do you expect)

这三样食物加上一碟小的蔬菜,小编不觉得可以真正满足你的味蕾和胃。(只是RM10+,你明白的)

Tips from 食 La Vie; the parking here is very limited as it is in the center of various restaurants in Prima Setapak here, flooded by the large number of TARUC students living nearby this area.

食La Vie的贴士,这里拥有好几间茶餐室,所以泊车位有点少。
